Police seek motive in the shooting death of Gloria Zuniga

"Police are trying to figure out who is responsible for the shooting death of 59-year-old Gloria Zuniga — shot to death as she slept in her home near 26th and Mitchell on Monday night, November 18th."

"Police have a theory as to what happened, but Zuniga’s family disagrees with it."

"Police believe Monday’s homicide is gang-related, saying that they have information gang members were living with Zuniga. Zuniga’s family disagrees, telling FOX6 that is not true. "

“She was obviously a really caring person. Real loving person, real compassionate person, really funny, hilarious. She`s a grandma. She has grandkids that miss her now. She has family members that miss her now for something so senseless,” Jesse Zuniga said.

Police have no one in custody in connection with this homicide, but say they believe this shooting may be related to an ongoing gang dispute.

"Our aunt is a statistic now, she’s a statistic to the streets.  That’s frustrating because she wasn’t a number,” said Jesse Zuniga"

“She has family members that miss her now for something so senseless,” Zuniga said of his aunt.
Police tell me Gloria Zuniga was shot as part of an on-going gang dispute.  They are investigating whether this is related to another shooting just a few weeks ago.  Neighbors are mad demanding the violence must end

“There’s been a lot of tragedy in this city.  It’s all about the community as a whole coming together and working with the authorities,” said neighbor Jim Holte."
