Man shot in jaw after high school reunion here in Milwaukee

Claudaire Motley was in Milwaukee, from North Carolina to attend his high school reunion at Milwaukee Tech Saturday around 1 a.m he got in his rental, a 2014 Range Rover and dropped his friend off at the corner of N. 63rd St. and W. Capitol Drive. Motley said black car slowly rolled past him on the left and then a second car parked behind him. "He saw three passengers through the rear view mirror — a woman and two men — and they were looking at him strangely, he said. Suddenly, one of the men jumped out of the car, approached his window and pointed a gun at him. When Motley floored the accelerator, the man fired a shot through the window." Motley was hit in his jaw and managed to drive himself to St. Joesph where he collapsed. He suffered a shattered jaw and requires surgery.

Motley said he'd moved from Milwaukee because, "He'd been concerned about rising violence in Milwaukee for years, and the family's move to North Carolina in 2008 had been partly due to his sense that "the whole city seems to have taken a downward spiral."

"Motley's wife, Kimberley Motley, said she hoped her husband's story would capture the public's attention and that it would spark "some kind of change" in neighborhoods plagued by violence. Kimberley Motley, who was Mrs. Wisconsin in 2004, works as a criminal defense attorney in Kabul, Afghanistan. She heard about the shooting when she talked to her husband on Skype.

"Here I am in Afghanistan," she told him, shaking her head. "But the violence is worse in Milwaukee."

Prior article:

Police Chief Ed Flynn addressed the shooting of 10 year old Sierra Guyton. Calling on the community and government...

“Sooner or later people enough gotta be enough! It`s not enough to complain about our tactics. It`s not enough to tell us we`re putting too many people in jail. We need you — the community, to help us solve this crime and to tell your young men to put the guns down!”

“I need the same Governor and the same state Legislature that found money to help us expand our ShotSpotter, the ShotSpotter that directed us to this location — to pass a law that makes these little monsters afraid to get locked up for possessing a gun. I need felony time for a felony crime of illegally carrying a firearm,”

Mayor Tom Barret had this to say...

“The thugs who thought nothing of having a gunfight on a playground need to be locked up for a very, very long time. Right now these gunslingers believe that there are no consequences to walking the streets armed and shooting whenever the mood strikes them. It’s time for the Governor and Legislature to go into special session and pass mandatory minimum sentences for gun crimes and to come down hard on those who value life so little.”

Governor Scott Walker said he hopes to see more done during the next Legislative session to get illegal guns out of the hands of criminals.

“We talked about working with the police chief, other law enforcement officials around the state to look at new ways that we can keep illegal guns out of the hands of criminals and the chief, as I’ve talked to in the past, that’s been his primary concern,” Gov. Scott Walker said.

Double shooting on 23rd and State.

An argument that started in a bar and  ended outside in gunfire left 2 people shot. Two male victims, a 34 year old and a 36 year old were treated after being shot near 23rd and State.  Neighbors are concerned about the type of clientele that frequents the bar. One neighbor Jennifer Mitchem told Fox 6 News,

“Maybe something needs to be done with the bar. There are a lot of bar fights. I do hear people screaming and fighting all the time. They want to start thinking about the people they have inside.
