Armed man held woman at gunpoint for 2 hours.

Police are unsure how Adisa Reed accessed his ex- girlfriends dorm room at Mount Mary University.

"All of the doors on campus leading to the dorms are labeled with stickers that clearly state no weapons allowed, but once someone is inside, they would need several keys to get up to the dorms."

"The criminal complaint released Thursday says Reed was hiding inside his ex-girlfriend's dorm room closet. It says he grabbed her, slapped her and pointed a gun at her. Police said she was held against her will for two hours. Investigators said Reed stole another woman's cellphone as she tried to call for help."

Is it too cold to kill?

A correlation between cold weather and a drop in violence undoubtedly exists, according to several academics whose habitats range from sun-drenched Miami to frostbitten Iowa.

“Some have argued that there is something about cold that actually inhibits aggression — literally the effect that cold has on the brain,” said Ellen G. Cohn, a professor of criminal justice at Florida International University.

She added, however, that she believed cold reduced violence primarily for a different reason: fewer people are likely to be on the streets, which, she said, means “victims and offenders are less likely to come into contact with each other.”
